Hello NICO, I suppose I am the new guy around these parts. I own a 1972 240z that has had a few different variants of v8s over the last few years. Currently running a LM7 in the car since I spun a rod in my abused LS6, its peppy but the quest for more power never stops.

Right now I am trying to finish my rear end set up in the car and I believe I have been given the wrong information on another Z site. It seems alot of people in other circles refer to the Q45 differential as an R230, but from what Ive glean here it is actually an R200v. My issue is that on my Q45 differential the mustache bar mounting bolts are 4 3/4 (center to center) while my aftermarket R230 mustache bar bolt provisions are spaced for 5 1/2 (center to center). This simply doesn't bolt up and I can not return the bar since it was bought used, it is no ones fault but my own for trying to save a hundred bucks. I don't know if some where in its life span the Q45 differential I own had its cover swapped or there is massive amounts of incorrect information online, either way I have a nice billet mustache bar I cant do jack with.

My question to the gurus here at NICO is this, is there a differential cover that will fit my Q45/R200v case that will allow me to use my R230 mustache bar? If so what make and model do I look for?

Thanks!

I own the car on the left.

What mustache bar do you have? AZC sells a mustache bar for using the short nose R200 from the Q with 4.25 and 4.75 centers. So it looks like you have a late short nose R200 form a Q and a mustache bar for using the Z32 TT R230. I'm thinking modern motorsport is the only one who made a bar for using the r230 and unfortunately I seem to recall it being made of hardened steel so redrilling it will be a pita. My advise is to either get the AZC bar or locate a Z32 R230 or have a machine ship redrill the bar to accept the wider centers.

I have the Techno Toy Tuning bar and it is made of aluminum. I thought about tigging the holes up and redrilling it myself but I want to see if there is an alternative out there first. I have been on the hunt the last few days for a z32 turbo diff cover, I want to swap it out with my own and see if it works. If not I will buy another bar.

I know the Z32TT's R230 spacing is larger than the Z32 n/a's R200, so a z32 cover for an r200 will likely not help. I was thiking Gabe made R230 bar but I didn't see it on his site so I guess it's out of production.

They have the same part number for the cover gasket so I am assuming the cover will fit. Gabe still offers the r230 bar but it comes in a kit, to buy it on its own you have to call him. To be honest I cant find a z32 turbo cover, so I might just order a r200 bar and put this one up for sale.
