After 21 years my compressor failed yesterday. I have a friend that will help with the repair. He wants to retro-fit with 134A and I just want to make sure it will perform the same as with the R12. I can find some of the R12 on Ebay and will pay the extra money if it is better to use. Has anybody used 134A? Is it better to go back to R12? We are going to change the dryer and flush the system also.
Thanks

To buy the freeze 12 off of ebay you must have the right license and fax it to them for them to sell. Read there fine print.

I can get the real R12 in town, not freeze 12.
I am not sure if I want to spend the extra money for the 12 if the 134A will work just as fine.
THANKS

Thats great .....if it is still good. They stopped producing regular r12 in 94. 134a doesnt work as well. So if they have a 17 year old bottle laying around that is still good than use it up. If not .....freeze 12 is still better than 134.
