There goes my 240, my dream, my future plans, my fun...

I was driving from work (on my break), home, it was raining, not too badly, but the road was plenty wet. I hit a pothole, my rear end starts going right (i only had one hand on the wheel, the other on the shifter) so i did a half *** job at countersteering to even it out, i oversteer in panic, my tail end totally wigs out the other way and the front end of my 92 240 says hello to the side of a concrete bridge at about 25-30. Lots of front end damage, bumper scraping the ground, both fenders bent in (from the bumper moving back), hood bent in half upwards, one light totally demolished along with the whole assembly. To my surprise it drove, i simply turned it back on, engine worked (sweet), idled funny but prolly vacuum hose off or something. Put it in first, and we go off, my bumper scraping the ground, i'm trying to just drive home, 2 minutes away, but the damn cops came... arg... now gotta pay damages to the bridge as well... My first thought as i hit the bridge was "oh no, not my sweet sweet 240" but there it goes, i could get a silvia conversion if the frames not bent, but i dunno if its worth it... Gotta go check it out tomorrow... I feel so bad inside, i had so many plans... and now they're all ruined.

I'll post some pictures tomorrow...

Sorry to hear about that. It really sucks, I know from experience about losing a 240. At first I was just really mad, but then I got like depressed for about a month until I got another one. I had an accident at about that speed in my old 240 and it wasn't too bad to fix, but I didn't need fenders. How much damage did you do to the bridge? I can't believe they are gonna make you pay for it considering it was their crappy road that caused the accident. Well, good luck with the car.

Damn that's horrible, sorry to hear about your 240. I feel for you man, I totalled my '88 Starion many years ago and was so upset about it. I had big plans for it too, so I know how it feels to see your dreams go right out the window. Good luck with it and hopefully it's salvagable.

Hey man, I feel for you too. I finally just got my 240, but watch out this guy ripped me off. Clutch went out after 5 days and timing chain is all messed up. So be careful. I hope you can rebuild it. I wish I could have mine.

Hmm, repairable? Probably, gotta check for frame damage, but its not worth it, see 240knightriders right pic in the sig? Same thing, xept 2-3 times worse, bumper is almost toally off, flip up light (right) totally damaged, bumper support bent to oblivion. I think i'll just part it out, so if anyone needs some parts, just ask, i got a running engine (130K but in good cond), and anything from the windshield back is in good condition, if anyone needs a brand new lookin trunk for their coupe, i got one. I got interior stuff to (lighter, all them interior goodies that some of u lack and get annoyed by, i'll post later in the classifieds).

Thinkin if i should get another 240 or something else (i've been dreamin bout an MX-6 Turbo (i know i know not a rwd but still cool).

Get a laywer. There is no way you should have to pay for the bridge since it was their pot hole that caused you to lose control. Sorry bout your loss.

Alright, turns out the damage was worse than i thought, alot worse, i wasnt really all there when i saw the car right after the accident. Here it is.

Lots 'n lots of front end damage

This is wht damage I did, also note the condition of the bridge in places other than the one I hit.

Damage from the side, the hood is jammed and my back hurts so I didnt feel like rippin it off today.

Taken from the side, thats how far the hood is bent up.

My right flip-up (That flips up no more).

Damage from the other side of the bridge + the drop.

Bumper support.

Notice the condition of the bridge again.

Oh and about me looking for frame damage, i wont even bother cuz there's plenty.

Holy ****, yeah I guess it's worse off than I imagined. And the fact you punched throught the concrete bridge doesn't show much promise for a salvage. Damn sorry to see it's that bad. But from the pictures it's quite obvious that your not the first person to jump the sidewalk and take a shot at the bridge. Hopefully you've got a case.

Heres the bad news, my old insurance policy ended last week, my new one begins in a week, but i had to get to work. So any damages to the bridge is all outta my personal money, fun huh? Yes yes i know i shouldnt have been drivin with no insurance, but **** happens, and well.. i hopen they dont charge me much for bridge.

Frame *is* bent unfortunately, but its not as bad as mine was and can be repaired. If you want your 240 back, I suggest you take it to someone that has a frame puller, shouldn't be too hard to get it back up. (Oh, and invest in a new core support...bent core support will eff everything up)

werd to that!

fortuantely, after further education on the front end of a 240sx...i found the damage to the frame on MY car is extremely small..it's about 4 inches if that...the rest is core support...so me and a new friend are gonna torch it off soon and bend the frame back :)

Interesting, i was doing half that speed, but the way i spun out would make it a head on crash with the bridge.
