okay so i've been involved with radio control cars ever since i was in 7th grade (i am now 20 years old). it's a great hobby! over those years i've had 6 cars. my current car is a team associated nitro tc3 with a novarossi rs12 ts2(turbo) engine (1.4 hp). i've always thought that the hobby was freakin expensive, but then i found fixing up cars to be much more. the thing that's most fun about it is the adrenaline rush that i get when i race against other people at the track. it's freakin bomb...well anyway

anyone here into r/c cars? if so, what kinda stuff you got?

Used to be. No money left after working on the big cars to pursue the small ones anymore.:(

yeah i know what you mean. i've been so caught up with my s13 that i rarely have time now to go to the track and race. i've been so caught up that i've been thinking about selling it so i can get struts for my car. i mean..i still like r/c cars and everything, but my big car comes before my little car now. -=(

I do have a Bit Charger. It's an R/C car smaller than a Hotwheels car, not fast but fun and it fits in your glove compartment.

you want to race that TC3 against my RC10GT? lol...like I just said, I have an RC10GT thats modded out and setup up for pure racing...custom blended my shock oils to get the perfect weights and everything (front is 37 weight and back is 40) Still have the AE .15 that came with the truck in it, but that engine comes with all the pop anyone will ever need, I also have an O.S CR-Z .12 with MIP Boost Bottle...nice little engine to run races that only all ow .12s...i'm tossing around the idea of selling it so I can concentrate on my S13...

yeah! those are cool. i have two of them. one with a 3.0 motor. the only thing that sucks is that the range is too short...even when you cut the capacitator thing out in the controller.

you want to race an offroad car with an O.S. engine against an onroad car (barry baker settings with foams) with a novarossi rs12 that some of the NORRCA onroad drivers use on their onroad cars (they use non turbo)? hehe....no thanks i wouldn't be able to go on the jumps.

i was thinking about getting into offroad at one point in my short, long life. but then i drove a T-maxx on the offroad track and it was a total turn off. i'm sorry to say, but there is no traction whatsoever and if you ever watch the guys that race during race days, all they do is go on the jumps and most of the time the trucks would flip over. although, i would imagine great skill is needed to keep the truck on the course.

IMO...there is nothing better than pure speed and traction to get your heart pumping super fast. especially during race days.

HPI RS4...great car with TONS of aftermarket products...I actually beat two Nitro RS4 3's with my truck...two guys didn't think an off-road truck would be able to hang with their touring cars, so we went to a parking lot with some little orange cones and set up an on-road course...beat them both...that was a fun night

mitchs...what Hobby Shop are you talking about? I've looked all over for Hobby Shops and the only one that I know of is in Metarie...and also...that's a Nitro or Electric Rustler?

gunclap...i can easily convert my truck to an on-reoad setup...all i have to do is set the suspension a little lower and throw my on-road tires on it...matter of fact, it is setup for on-road in the pictures i posted...see the Pro Line road hawgs! I doubt I could beat you, but I bet I can hang with you...as for off-road racing...i love it...i've flipped my truck a few times, but not that often...I find a lot of guys that go to tracks are very unexperienced and have a balls to the wall mind set...I'm a little more conscience about my trucks abilitys and try to get around the track as fast as possible with as little errror as possible...I have my diff and slipper clutches setup to slip a lot so I don't have much of a traction issue either...

yes, there are a lot of unexperienced people that don't know how to handle their cars. I see a lot of guys onroad and offroad that break their cars because they just full throttle it without realizing that there is a turn after the straight.

one thing that pisses me off though is the fact that people don't call out their frequencies sometimes. there's a guy at the local track that spent $300 on his car because of two frequency conflicts.

well i bet you can keep up with me team23rulz...especially with your onroad setup, but who knows.

you would definetely have the edge out of the turns...my AE .15 (according to an Associated Rep. I talked to) pushes just about 1 hp...I was actually thinking about buying that MT12 motor that Nova Rossi made for the Mugen MTX5...but I figured I have all the power I ever needed in my truck...I have plans to build a Bolink Dragster and might make the RS12 my eingine of choice...they use the same drivetrain (if you can call it that) as the RC10GT so setting it up to hook and go shouldn't be a problem for me...

yeah..those dragsters kick as$! there are some dragster guys at the local track and one of them built his own chassis. he used two HPI novarossi engines (1hp each).here's a link

bill's dragster (scroll all the way down)

the mt12 is a really good engine. I was going to get one but i found out that the .12 engines only had 1.15 hp or something like that.

wow...that thing is nice...i love the exhaust headers...I bet it sounds wicked...thw only bad thing is there aren't too many people where I live that run R/C cars...so I wouldn't have any competition

I had a traxxas nitro sport or something with an electric start (p.o.s) is sold it coause the electric start messed up, but i had an aftermarkwt pipe, filter, and front servo cause i wrecked it and snapped the first one. The thing was fast as crap but i could never get it tuned just right. I live on a golf course so sand traps and all the grass make a nice little playground I miss my car but it just cost so much money

just one quick piece of advice if you start a fire with the nitro do not turn the bottle upside down over the flame itll shoot off like a rocket and burn all the hair off your leg. But if you wanna be stupid like me its pretty cool to watch.
