I went to a meet the other day and I saw some people drifting with R/C cars. They had an AE86, S13, and MK2 and just started doing a bunch of figure 8's. Got me thinkg, "how much does it cost to make one of those and where do you start?" Has anybody ever tried building one? I'm curious.

My friends used to have them. Good ones are $500+ I believe, then parts like bigger motor and suspension dont run cheap.

This was maybe 6 years back prices. They have offroad trucks too

Yea, they seemed really cool! I wanted to pick up another hobby and I wanted to see if this is something reasonable. Building a car takes time so might as well build a smaller version of the same thing. Also it'd be kinda funny to have a miniature replica of your car sitting in the real thing.

They can be fun. The offroad ones might be a little more fun than the low roadracing cars if Im honest. Depends on what your looking for. Also they make gas powered helicopters and boats too

I tried getting back into RC cars a few years back. I stored them at my sister/brother-in-law's house for a bit and some things were damaged by flooding. Once I get my own house, I will restart this hobby with an old-school Alfa Romeo- I don't care for the "drifting RC" stuff.

I remember as a kid I had a bunch of Tyco R/C's those were the best... Looking at the modern crazy R/C's they have now it makes me wonder if kids in the next few years will have less and less attention spans.
