First off, thank you to everyone who contributes to this forum. I've been a stalker for some time now and can't thank everyone enough!! Our local service group isn't the best so I've had to learn things on my own.

Our rear hatch completely failed last week. Zero power/response from any interaction. Remote, switch by the steering wheel, or the buttons on the hatch itself. I suspect it was caused by a water leak we've tried having fixed numerous times at the service center with no luck. Either way, I'm looking for some guidance or confirmation I'm on the correct track..

I checked the fuses and found no issues. The manual is worthless, and nowhere online has been very specific as to the exact fuse, so I checked all that were "possible" from the 3 fuse box locations. I also verified the switch it "on."

After the fuses and research, I've now torn out the Hatch Latch Lock Actuator and ordered a new one. I'm starting to second guess myself now after seeing the "Automatic Back Door Control Module" called out in a service manual for a 2012 model. Would this be the same part?

Thank you!

The ABD Controller on the QX80/Armada is built in with the motor that runs the lift (under the left cargo area trim). If it's totally unresponsive then chances are that's your issue, not the latch.

Thanks VStar650CL, but I'm not sure I follow. I haven't seen any note of the part you called out, the "ABD Controller", in any of my research. Or maybe we are talking about the same components? ABD Controller = Automatic Back Door Control Module? I removed this from the rear hatch, under the trim, basically connected to the latch.

I don't know where you got that information, but it's mistaken. There is no smartwork in the back door latch, the ABD Controller is integral with the lift motor. These are taken straight from the FSM, see #6:

PS - Your ABD shouldn't have any meaningful differences from a '15, you can find the DLK section of the '15 FSM here:
