I use Redline 75W90 GL-5 Gear Oil, front and rear. The Owner's manual calls for "Genuine NISSAN Differential Oil Hypoid Super GL-5 80W-90" (or equivalent, and no part number), which doesn't appear to actually exist. If you search for it, you will only find people quoting their Owner's Manuals. The only 80W-90 from Nissan I can find is 999MP-1XGPP0P, which they call "Limited Slip Oil." The R180A isn't a limited slip diff, so no need for a gear oil with friction modifiers. A gallon of Redline easily handles both front and rear. BTW, the washers are M18x24 aluminum, also used in Porsche/Volvo, and you can
buy 15 on Amazon for what Nissan wants for one.
I just bought a used '21 QX80, and changed most of the fluids. Make sure you grease the prop shafts. The schedule calls for every 15K miles, mine had never been done (one would have been impossible, there was paint blocking the zerk). Lots of "fines" on the diff plug magnets. This is what I came up with:
Oil 7 Qt, 0W-20, ILSAC GF-5, API SN
ATF, 'Nissan Matic S", 10 5/8 qt, lifetime (Valvoline Maxlife Multi-vehicle)
(simple drain/fill takes ~5 qts)
Transfer ATX90A, "Genuine NISSAN Transfer Fluid for ATX90A transfer", 3 1/8 pt,
999MP-TF0870P (>$60/qt!), GL-4, TF0870 (Redline MT-LV 70W/75W GL-4)
Front diff R180A, 999MP-1XGPP0P, GL-5 80W-90, 1 5/8 pt (Redline 75W90 GL-5 GEAR OIL)
Rear diff R230, KLD37-00001, GL-5 75W-90, 3 3/4 pt (Redline 75W90 GL-5 GEAR OIL)
Prop shafts (4x U-joints, 2x slip joints) NLGI #2 lithium, (Lucas Red & Tacky)
Power steering, Dexron VI, 1 1/8 qt
Brake DOT-3
Antifreeze POAT (blue)
