I have a 2004 QX56 with about 58K miles. The original Continental tires had been replaced with Dunlop AT320s when I bought it used with about 40K miles. Now those tires are getting close to the end of their life and I am looking at upgrading the size but I am clueless when it comes to tire sizing and what larger size I can put on without negative effecets to the ride. My current tires are the OEM size 265 70 18. I found these Dunlop Rover M/T Maxx tires I really like and they seem to have good reviews. However, I would have to get a 275 70 18 or a 275 65 18 size from the sizes they offer for 18 inch wheels. From what I can gather, they will fit the wheels OK but they are both wider and 1 sidewall height is taller than the OEM (275 70 18), the other is shorter than the OEM (275 65 18).
I would prefer the 275 70 18s. Can I safely install these on my QX56 with no negative ride quality effects??
