Hey guys I have a 2005 QX56 with about 56,000 miles. Recently the service engine light came on, I was wondering if its the same as CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. Also what kind of maintenance do I need to do to get rid of the light. Is there a list of maintenance that can guide me to fix the car?

You will have to have somebody hook up a scanner and pull codes. There are some places that do it free. If you go to a parts store and get the codes don't let them sell you anything until you diagnose the problem first. Tell me the codes and we can get started.

The U1000 is a communications code. the TCS is a traction control system code. A failure on the communication line has occurred. I would clear codes and see if it resets. All of the modules talk to each other on the hi speed can line. If a module cannot communicate for some reason it will set a code. Communication codes can be very difficult to properly diagnose. If the code resets it may have some type of failure with the traction control system. I would take to a qualified shop that deals with driveability problems.
