QX4 Window Tint question

Hey everyone,

I'm a brand new owner of a black 1998 QX4 and my plan was to tint all the windows black, but the window tinting place I went to can't take off the factory tint, and it's kinda that bronzey (I don't know the name of it) look. I can darken it, but I can't take it off because it's factory. Has anyone seen how those windows look darker or have any suggestions? I love how Qxxx4's windows look. That's what I'm after.

Mine has the reflective tint and I was looking for people who had black on the front with the factory mirror tint on the back.

One of the people added more tint to the rear in addition to the factory reflective tint and tinted the front windows. It made the mirrored effect less obvious.

Cool. I think I'm going to put black tint all around in the hopes it will look good even with the factory tint on there.

the tint shop was right when they said they cant remove the factory tint - its actually a colored glass. Heres one on craigslist with the mismatched tints like you described.

Personally, I hate mismatched tint with a passion, which was one of the reasons i stayed away from the 96-99 model pathfinders (they changed the glass from mirror to black in 99.5)

But don't listen to me, 99.9% of people out there in the real world probably wont even notice you have tint to begin with!!

That is hideous indeed. The one another forum member posted looked a lot better. I wonder if it's because he added more tint to the rears. It could also be the angle of the photo.

C-Rock, how to the police in your area feel about mirror tint? You could do that all the way around.

Man that sucks. . the windows in my 99.5 were a film, not colored glass (it scratches off).

I REALLY like the look of mirror in the front.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I think my only option to keep it looking decent is to tint the front with the mirror. I already found a place that would, and then put black tint all the way around it. I'll definitely post a pic after.

i hate the mirror tint in the back also...i have 5% tints up front and 5% over my factory mirror tint on the back...its makes it a little less mirror but you can still tell...at night you really cant tell...
