Im looking to fabricate a engine back exhaust system for my 2001 infiniti qx4. Has the VQ35DE engine as far as I know but I seem to think after searching this forum for a while that where are many different head patterns and such

My vehicle obviously is an suv, so I dont think I cab just buy maxima or altima headers and hope for the best... WHat I want to do is buy a set of headers on ebay or whichever, then fabricate my exhaust off those. Id like to put the factory cats further downstream so they can be swapped out for test pipes (or even switch to aftermarket single cat and test pipe)

The exhaust most likely will be side exit.

Im just looking for a little help as to what would fit my cars heads and such at this point though.

Ya no s***, I came back all excited someone replied

I know its possible, as in getting some flanged made up and making the headers from scratch.

But I dont see any already in production headers that would fit my motor, hopefully even using factory 02 sensor locations

It is certainly possible. I am just about done with a similar project to the one you are speaking of. I am in the middle of a VQ swap into an S14. I am just about done with the hand built headers. I started with some cheap VQ headers so I could start with flanges that fit. It was cheaper to buy two sets of headers for the additional bends I would need than to buy pre-bent tubes. They are also polished to match which the pre-bent tubes would not be. The headers are turning out very well but it has been pretty labor intensive. I have been an ametuer fabricator for about 40 years and have all the tools needed to do this type of work including a tig welder, lathe, a variety of grinders, air dremels etc.... If you don't have the skills or the proper tools then I would say you will have to spend a $1000-1500 to have some made for you.
Sorry I'm not for hire. Haven't got enough time to work on my own.

Im not looking to fabricate a header, I want to fabricate the exhaust after it. I simply want a header hat bolts up and points in the proper direction to allow me to do so
