i have a 5yr. old qx4 and i was in the passenger seat. My husband puts the car in park and gets out of the car while the engine is on. The car rolls a bit forward on flat ground. Scared me alot! This is the second time it happened. He keeps the car in auto all the time.

A second problem that he has for two yrs is when he makes a left hand turn there is is like a catching or noise. I have taken it to the dealer and for the past two yrs they say that there is nothing wrong. The car has 29,000 original miles and we always city or highway drive.

Does anyone know what these problems might be?

why did you make the title "qx4 transmission 1992" ? they did not make QX4's in 1992. Is your husband rolling everywhere with the transfer case in "AUTO" ?? If so, then that is a bad idea. Keep it in 2WD for daily driving.

There is always a little play between the transmission and the rear axle. That is the rolling back you are experiencing.

^ +1. THe "catching or noise" might be the tires rubbing against something. Are you running stock sized tires and wheels? Is there anything hanging out of the wheel well like the fender liner?

I made a typing error. I meant 2002. He keeps the car in auto at all times.

The car actually rolled forward a bit while we were in 'park" on a flat driveway.

When I take a right turn the car makes a noise near the left tire like it was a bushing or a universal joint or maybe called a "cv" joint. it doesn't seem to be the tire. It can also happen when I take a left turn. I took the car to Kelly Infinity yesterday and the service foreman couldn't hear it and he put it on a lift and said everything was tight, but when I was driving home I still heard it occasionally.

Also what is recommended for flushing the transmission fluid? They told me it was a bit dark and hasn't ever been flushed? Does $219 sound alright?

Also does anyone else have a jammed cd in their player. It says "Err2" Just happened to me and it is going to cost a total of $480. I heard that there are plastic parts in the cd player that they break. Couldn't I buy a new one for that price instead of having it refurbished for $480?

Thanks for everyone's imput

My QX4, and any auto vehicle I've driven will roll a bit after it's in park. There always seems to be some play in it, which is why using the parking brake is a good idea. . also protects park.

How far we talkin'?

Sorry -- my last post sort of just re-words this.
