Went to the dealer today for a suspension problem. They couldn't find any, but said I should change the timing belt while I was at it (97k miles). I know they should be changed at about 100k, but have never changed them on my other infinities (2001 i30 and 1996 q20). They told me if it broke it would really mess the engine up and i'd be looking at a 2000+ in repairs. I know this is a pricey repair, so i'm only going to do it if it's totally necessary. Thoughts, ideas? FYI - 3.5l not 3.3, those have chains if i'm not mistaken.

Yea the dealer is off..the 3.5 has a chain which needs no maintainence or replacement unless youre rebuilding the motor. if hes aware that its a 3.5 instead of a 3.3, he either is trying to make some $ or doesnt know his motors.

Yea, that's what I was always told - my 3.0l i30t has a chain too. It was the service guy - he's new of course. The technician cleared that up.
