Qx4 shifter help

So yesterday I had too do the dreaded park neutral safety switch replacement. We got it all installed everything buttoned back up just too find my shifter won't go into D2 or 1. Locks into every other gear just fine. If I unhook the main shift linkage on the left of the shifter and move the shifter too D1 and 2 it locks in. Hook the linkage back up and it doesn't hold it just springs back up into drive. Does anyone have any ideas how too adjust this. I'm not worried about it now but winter time snow gets pretty bad here and we drive alot of hills and mountains and we use d1 and 2. Thanks in advance
