qx4 selector keeps on locking up! AH!!! HELP!

i have a 2001 Infiniti QX4 with everything expect a navi on it. so lately the stupid seltor keeps on locking up on me, its not like any messed with the sterring wheel or anything. after about 15 minites of messing with it and pumping the brake and trying to force the selector to yank out of P (park) it finally breaks free all of a sudden. its been happening since about 3 weeks ago, now its getting worse. everytime i start the car and shift the selector it wont budge. sometimes i have to take the key out a few times and then start the car it would work. i havent tried the Shift lock release thing near the selector where i have to put a screw driver in since i dont have a screwdriver in my car always. wtf is going on??

I believe the QX4 transmission gear shift is power by a belt. What happens is that the belt either loses flexibility or loses proper alignment. You got two options, change the belt or grease it up to hasten shifting. I had the same issue in a previous Honda but it disappeared after lubing it up and hasnt appeared to this day.

where is the belt located? can i lube it by myself and ifso with what?

edit: i also heard it could be the shift lock solenoid in the shifter, could this be the reason for the frequent lock ups too?
