I'm going buy a 2001 QX4 (3.5 V-6 ) with 55k mikes on it... $8000 Firm.is it a good deal?

I really want to know if this is good truck for daily driving.. High cost maintanece?

do I need to change the timing belt on this truck?how is this 4WD system working? before I hand the cash out, what I should really look carefully first?

my 2001 qx4 has around 150,000 miles on it and runs fine. No major maintenance aside from new exhaust. Obviously after that many miles there's routine stuff like new belts and plugs, O2 sensors etc. No timing belt, the 2001 is equipped with a timing chain. No problems with the 4wd with mine... 8,000 and 55k miles? sounds like a great deal to me. I'm a huge fan of that generation Q/ Pathfinder- I feel like they improved until the 01 generation, and then just started getting uglier again. I'd go for it.hope that helps,-Nick

yesterday i saw a 99 qx4 on craigslist with 420,000kms. Look around these things go forever, the engines are bulletproof. It makes the higher fuel consumption worth it because their so damn reliable

and remember 8 years ago that q was well over $40k

I bought mine in 2003 with 35k. It now has 123k and I would still drive it cross country. It idles like the day I bought it. A good wash and it looks good as new. I drive it daily and it is the family weekend runner. Find a good mechanic, a good online place for parts and enjoy.

I have a 2001 QX4. I bought it with about 28K on it and I now have 114K, I think I have only put about 8K on it in the last year. 8K, NADA has it listed with those low miles at well over that price based on my zip code.

Its been good, nothing keeping me from driving it but I have had the following issues, or need to get the following addressed.

FAILING/FAILEDMAS air flow sensorMuffler (was cheap, got a new one in today)

HAS NEEDED IN PASTGas FilterAir FiltersBulbs

NEEDS ROUTINETune UpDrive Belts

I bought my '01 QX4 with 45,000 miles on it, now it's got over 193,000 and still running as good a the day I bought it. I've invested about $3K for repairs which is amazing. Everyone that sees my '01 is blown away when they find out the mileage and year.

Got mine at 63K miles, currently has over 118K miles, has not let me down one bit at all. I've had for 4 years going into 5. Till this day I am not disappointed with my purchase. Had my normal wear and tear on it (brakes, tires, oil changes, belts, and 1 HID bulb, lol)

Before my QX4, I had a 2000 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Series with 75K miles on it and it was making every single noise in the engine that you can imagine. Hey that's FORD! (Fixed Or Repaired Daily)

i got mine with just over 50k miles on it..... now i got 160k (very hard miles) and the only problems ive had is a failed A/C compressor (which did not affect the engine performance after i cut the belt) and a bad post-cat O2 sensor which i am too lazy to replace cause it also doesn't affect the engine

Incredibly reliable truck

i have no doubt in my mind that this thing will run healthy to 250k miles no problem

Sounds like a good deal to me. I've had my '01 for 3 years and it still looks, feels, and runs like a new truck. I plan on keeping it at least another 6 years +. It's a solid vehicle. Only two more years and I own it outright! With 58K miles on it, I feel like it's just got broken in.

My buddy has an '02 QX with over 100k on the clock that he bought new. He beats that thing to death and does only the minimum maintenance (engine oil changes and air filters). The last time we were out and he had more than one too many, I drove it home. I was surprised that it ran as good as mine, which has nearly half as many miles. The truck is a tank. His torture test of that vehicle is why I bought one myself when it came time for me to buy a truck.

And to answer your questions...

Haven't seen too many patterns of major problems with our trucks here.

The 4WD system is unstoppable. Like I said, it's a tank.

I bought my 99 in 2006 and I have put 14,000 miles on it since then. It has just over 126,000 miles and I just drove 2,000 miles to see my Grandma over Mother's Day weekend without a single hiccup.

Mine has a different engine than the one you are looking at, but the trend seems to be that these are great cars. They stopped making them in 2003 and I see them everywhere.

If your mechanic gives it the thumbs up, $8,000 sounds like a very good price. I paid $7,500 for mine which was a 99 with 112,000 miles.

Vehicle swaying side to side, sometimes violently, at freeway speeds.

the problem started after running a black diamond trail, but many R50 owners get the same problem without ever touching a dirt road

it was a cracked rear lower control arm bushing.

I got the death sway from worn out trailing arm bushings, it hit at about 150K miles.
