I don't know where the "propellar shaft" lubrication point is. Just a guess: When I look at the rear axle from back of the truck, I see two screw type of pluges, one facing back, the other basically facing down. Are those for propellar shaft lubrication? QX4 maintenance log says the recommended grease is NLGI No.2 (Molybdenum disulphide lithium soap based). Is it critical? If I don't use Infiniti's service but some other independent service shops who apply other type of grease, will that be bad?

Thanks.

no that is not the propeller shaft they are reffering to. when they say propeller shaft they are reffering to the drive shafts. the rear drive shaft does not have lube points the front shaft has one lube point directly in the middle near where the 2 pieces slide together.

I asked a Nissan dealer service advisor about the propellar shaft. He said since my QX4 is 4WD so it has two propellar shafts, one in the front the other in the rear and both need to be lubricated...

wow great service department. I would really like to know how they are lubricating it since it has no zirc fittings. Maybe they are disassembling the U-Joints and repacking them.

Not meaning to be a smart a$$ but I think they are rippin ya off.

At the same Nissan dealership I asked another advisor who told me that is no lubrication point at the rear, nor in the front. Then came in a technician who corrected him and told me exactly what you NISTECH said in your early post. He even drew a sketch and explained to me.

I am in San Jose area.

Thanks again NISTECH.
