Qx4 left turn signal on when headlites on

Daylite - when left signal (only) is used dash lights blink on and off in addition to turning lights as normal. Night time - with headlites on, left(only) signal lite bulbs (front & back) are on at all times and don't blink on and off as normal. Right signal lites are normal, both day and night. I have replaced light control unit in the sterring column as well as cleaned the old one and that has not corrected the problem. What to do next? Thanks
