Recently purchased a 2001 QX4 and I've noticed that the dome light goes on and off while I'm driving down the road. Haven't noticed any issues with the cargo light. Has anyone else run into this and have any suggestions?

Thanks

I have same issue with our 2002 Pathfinder SE we bought Dec. 2009. I worked on the door to try and adjust it so it closes better and ended-up making it worse. Not sure if door sensor is not closing properly. If I find anything I will post.

Actually I'm having a similar problem with my '03 Pathfinder. I have been noticing that when I keep the doors open, sometimes the dome light will not turn on immediately but will turn on after a few minutes of having a door open. Sometimes the light will turn on when a door is opened, but it will turn off and then turn back on. It's very random and I doubt I could recreate it but I have been noticing this for some time. I know for sure it's not a bad door sensor but I'm thinking there's some problem with the dome lamp switch.

the door switch (little buttons on the door jamb, with rubebr covers) are (as you can probably tell by now) a common failure on 1996-2004 pathfinders and QX4's possible symptoms (depending on how the switch fails) are interior dome light coming on and off while driving, alarm going off randomly or unable to set alarm, or door jamp light stops turning on for one particular door.

Easy to diagnose, all you have to do is walk around the truck and play with the doors (perhaps hit them or push them around) and when you see the door light acting up, you know you found the bad switch

First once you find the door, push the switch in. if it works.. read this.

one of my switches wasnt going in far enough for some reason, and also had the same problem. Once i found the door, i grabbed one of the non-scratch pads you can find on the bottom of a dinner table chair (hardwood floors, to prevent scratch) i then stuck the pad on the inside of the truck where the switch pushes into. Therefore the switch was always pushed in when the door is shut. fixed.

sometimes my cargo light wont go on right away, just tap it with my hand around it and it comes right on, mabye a bad connection. dont think its with the sensors.

I implemented a quick solution that seems to be working so far. I cut about 10 small strips of electrical tape and stuck them on top of each other to the door where the plunger hits and now my dome light goes out.

My issue is when the doors are open, the center interior lamp will turn on/off intermittently. My door sensors haven't tripped my alarm and I haven't had the issue of the lamp turning on with the doors closed (while driving). I think I may need to take the center lamp apart and check for bad contacts or something of the sort.
