QX4 Engine Replacement

Has anyone ever replaced the engine in their QX4?

How many miles did the original engine get to?

Can you put in a more horsepower engine than the 240Hp that it comes with?
I wouldn't mind having a 400Hp engine.

I have about 185k miles on my 2003.
Should I be good for another 300 thousand miles or so?

As far as engine longevity, you're probably getting near the make or break point. If it was taken care of, you'll easily get another 100k out of it. If not, it's anybody's guess. I would suggest sending an oil analysis to some place like Blackstone Labs. They'll give you an idea of the state your engine and bearings based on the wear metals they find. For engine swaps, there's a number of threads here where people have done it, so do some searching and see what you come up with. I haven't heard of anyone installing a higher-HP engine in, short of one or two folks that fabricated in a 351 or something. This one may be a good place to start.
