QX4 crank starter

I have QX4 2003 with 133k miles. It stops and quiet at first crank start, it always starts at second crank. I wonder what is the problem.

Check the battery terminals for corrosion.

Mine was doing the same thing..now I have to give it gas to keep it running for about 10 seconds...then it will idle. I assume that I just need a tune up, I am just waiting for spring (since I don't have a garage)! I'm curious to find out what the tech's responds with...

Try replacing the fuel filter to begin with - see here for a guide on its replacement.

Thanks for the tip, I'm sure it is needed either way! Great "how-to" post as well!! I am new to this site, I have found a plethora of information about both of my vehicles!!

Hi everyone ,

My 2001 QX4 is doing the same thing at starting, and I replaced the fuel filter just a few days ago but it didn't help. I also checked the battery but it was fine as well. How did you guys end up correcting the issue?
My car would start after stepping on the gas for like 3-5 seconds
