Hi,

I'm in a desperate need to find out how to replace my factory navigation (climate control) with a separate climate control unit. So far I managed to replace my navigation unit but haven't figured out how to wire this freaking climate control unit. The climate control wires' colors does not quite match the wire colors coming out of the nav unit (witch controls the hvac system). I tried looking at a hvac diagram, but no go. I went as far as to hook all the matching colors i could one by one, while leaving some behind that were extras.

QUESTION: How do i get this thing working???? lol, what wires are even the power wires just to turn on the climate control display?

heres a link to what problem the looks like. http://www.my-image-host.com/show.php/1 ... e.jpg.html

any help would be appreciated.

NinjaKills,

I tried to find an e-mail address for you, but couldn't.

Have you figured this out yet?

If you haven't, maybe we could team up and share results with each other. :poke:

I may have someone I can ask, but want to research on-line first so I don't just outright bother him. He is a Nissan mechanic.

In any case, let me know. Thanks! :mike

Hey Jason,

Thanks for offering to help but I ended up going to a A/C Specialist in my area who was able to do the wiring for me. Afterwards, I did the rest of the installation work and mounting. I kept my orginal stereo bezel because I got used to having the monitor up top & simply like this look better than at the bottom. Furthermore, to make this all work, I had to do some drilling on the oem stereo bracket so the aftermarket unit would fit properly and some expanding the lower openin for climate control fitting (height, not width). Overall the mounting & installation work has been fairly easy to do. Here are some pictures of my work.

"Against all odds"...2pac

PS:
I had went through several people who I thought would be good leads for doing the service, but only to get turned around (including the dealer). A lot of people (mechanics, audio installers, nissan, etc.) say this couldnt be done or simply were to scared to even try messing with it. So be warned!

Hello, were you able to take pictures of the finished rewiring and connection on the AC control unit? I'm looking into swapping out my factory Navi for a regular AC control unit myself and the wiring is the one piece that has me bamboozled. If I can't do it I at least would like to direct my local auto electrician here on how to do this.

Peppy,

Sorry, I dont have any pictures of my wiring but it wouldnt help much because it is entirely covered up. My mechanic used two different wiring diagram he told me, but i would strongley suggest taking it to a professional and doing the rest later. Good Luck!

Ninja, can you post that wiring jpeg you had again (link isn't working), or e-mail it to me at my dat280zx (at) gmail account?

Thanks, appreciate it!

I'll even build a How To Guide for prosperity. :bowrofl:

I just purchased a 2001 Silver grey QX4 w 108K miles on it and I assumed i could do a quick replacement of the old, ugly and broken Navigation system. The car audio folks said it was hopeless and could not replace it for a new radio due to the HVAC controls in the display. So I was sooo happy to see Nigakills1 did exactly what I want to due. So if i do the exact set up do I need a hvac (lower control panel) unit from a pathfinder? And do I also need a bracket? Thanks, I have hope again. David.
