Hey Guys

So I have never had a problem with my stereo in my truck until the other day. I turned it on to listen to a CD and a noticed that only the speakers on the right had side of the truck were properly working. I checked the balance settings and everything was normal. If i moved the balance all the way to the left, the sound was very quite and sounded extreamly muffeled from the left had side speakers.

If it use the Tape, or Radio, all the speakers work normall and sound great. It is just when i have it on CD that the right had side speakers are barly even heard. Any ideas what this could be? I hope its just a lose connector or something.

Any help or suggestions would be awesome!

Its a 2002 qx4

Thanks Again.

I had a similar problem with one side working and one side sounding muffled, although this was with an aftermarket deck and only when I was using an auxillary source. (everything else worked fine). For me it turned out to be a faulty audio extension cable (going from my deck to an ipod) that was basically working in mono. I bought a new cable and it was fixed. Since yours is stock, I'm not sure, it just sounded familiar.

Does the QX4's audio unit have a CD player built-in? I can't determine whether it had a 6-CD changer like the PF did from looking at the FSM.

I cant seem to find anything about my problem on the net.

Anyone know how i can pull out my head unit so i can check the wires behind it? I would like to do so without breaking anything :)

A DIY guide or if some one can explain how, that would be fantastic,

Thanks

Maybe the radio/tape unit is seperate but joined by wires in the back to the Cd unit? (for easy repairs I'm guessing). If so, it could be just a kink in the wire.

I think I remember seeing somewhere that the pathfinder's was seperate units joined....

There is a guide I made on how to access the back side of the stereo here: post5855265.html?hilit=cluster#p5855265

It's for a PF, but should be identical for your QX4. Just check the wiring harnesses that are plugged in to the radio, etc for issues.
