So, me and a buddy were working on his QX4. We replaced his warped front rotors and CV axles. It wasn't too bad really - just messy. We took our time and cleaned all the parts off pretty good, getting all that old grease off and using nice clean new grease. My question is, now much grease should be used in the hub, axles and such. Is it possible to use too much? I pretty much packed bearings and stuff as much as it would hold and thought that when stuff squeezed out as we tightned up it was going well. In the end when it's time to put that little cap back on, should we have packed that thing with grease?

Also, where the CV axle bolts up to the front diff I couldn't find out how many foot pounds those six screws should be torqued to in the FSM. Any suggestions?

you should not fill the cap with grease. if you fill the whole cavity with grease, then when it gets hot and expands there will be noplace to go but leak out on your new brakes. as for the torque, 8mm nuts should not be too tight. i would say about 30-35 ftlb but dont quote me on it.
