Hello everyone,

At First, English is not my language I beg your indulgence for the faults. thank you.

Last December I bought a QX4 on my birthday.
A beautiful gift. 2001 model 2wd 86,000 miles. Like all QX4 Paty and I have the problem of balancing that will be resolved shortly with the purchase of new polyurethane bushing. (Merci 4x4parts). Before starting to work on suspension I do give a facelift to the headlight. The first problem is that the glasse was baked in the sun, everything became opac. The second problem is that a lot of dust is returned to the optic, there are even dead flies. All that dirt came through the hole of light. See photos. I wonder if it's possible to remove the optical and then remove the glass for cleaning inside.

Here in Mali there is no Infiniti dealer, only a Nissan dealer offering very high prices. For example, it asks me to pay $ 580 to change the brake pads without editing. I am therefore forced to turn to resellers play in north america. Even in Europe it's hard to find parts for the QX4 was never released except in Switzerland and Germany.

I would therefore ask you to help find the right shop and to support me when mounting bushing.

Bonne journée

Hello Fechfech, welcome to NICO!

If I understand your question, your asking if 1) you can remove the headlight (optical) from the truck and then 2) remove the lense (glass) to clean inside.
The answers are 1) yes, and 2) I think so.

1) Here are the some instruction that I googled to take the QX4 headlight off. (I have a Pathfinder sorry)

http://www.fixya.com/cars/t5776793-remove

They are kind of vague, anyone want to add anything?

2) For the headlight itself, this is what I found on how to take it apart.

On a side note, is there a condesation tube coming from the light and thats how dust and bugs are getting in?

baking the lens off is a risky step.... Might i suggest try exterior polishing of the lens first? if that doesnt work, then you can try baking hte lens open... however worst comes to worst.... you can buy a set of headlights off ebay for like 200 bucks.

Thank you for the links
You'r right I want to remove the headlight and the lense to clean inside.
This morning I look rear headlight and i understand why it's so dirty inside, the headlamp steal cover is not here. Maybe the last owner forget to replace this part. I will try to find something to close it.

Is it the steal cover QX4 ?

I try to clean the outside headlight this week end and after remove it. If some one can explain how to remove it. Thanks

Last question about the rear bumper, there is a additional part below that i never see on other QX4. Is it special 2wd ?

like they said, you can try buffing/polishing, taking it apart sealing it, and buying the part thats missing, if worst comes to worst you will have to buy a new set of headlights which are like $200ish

But damn that must be a hot ride in mali, probably one of the top of the line cars there, or am i wrong?

cool pictures - i like the rear lip on the bumper.

are you sure that the damage to the light is on the inside, and not the outside'?

Hello
@ Miamiheat332
The operation of the weekend will be polishing and find a solution to close the rear door. If I have the courage I disassembled the headlight and clean inside. One of my friends will help me in this task.

The QX4 is a small luxury car. I see every day BMW X6, Porsche Cayenne, Hummer, Cadillac Escalade, I do not count FX35-37 and other 4x4 infiniti and the king is the new Toyota Land Cruiser

@ Fueler
Unfortunately I am sure that the dust and flies and spiders in the headlight. Look at the photo of the headlight, zoom above we can see any dirt VS fog lights are sealed they shine much more than the headlights.

I have to solve many problems on the QX

- Change sylenbloc lower arms front and rear arm all
- Removing the fuel pump to check the float, my fuel gauge is stuck therefore impossible to know if I have gas
- Remove the footboard conductor is twisted
- Repair the front passenger seat, the engine of the file will no longer move
- Replace the bulbs of the dashboard that indicates the position light, headlamp and anti fog. Only bulbs full light ok.
- Engine oil, transmission fluid when I find a complete kit and filter seal.
- Replacing the fuel filter, air filter

Nothing very complicated except the dashboard, I did not disassemble this piece.

All your tips are welcome

To fix your passenger seat, hit the motor underneath the seat with some sort of hard object and the seat will move freely again. Can you please take more pictures of your QX4 since it is not US spec but Eurospec which is really rare?

Thank you Naladude911, i try to hit the motor but nothing happen, no-click to move the vertical portion of the seat. I had the same problem on the driver's seat to advance and retreat. By pressing the button there was clik and tapping on the engine everything is back to normal.

Regarding the version I'm not sure that is a European version because I found a quarter dollar coin and there is a sticker on the top left of the front windows with the address: Infiniti Coconut Creek 5501 west sample road. The car arrived in Mali in late 2008 and the previous owner never used it due to consumption of gasoline too high and the swing of death. He prefers his old Mercedes 300 diesel. And I got a good deal, hopefully more. Thanks to forum nicoclub I realized that the swing of death was not too complicated to remove. Unfortunately there is no maintenance book.

Another detail is the design on the side. It begins on the front fender and finish on the rear fender. It does not exist on the front and rear fender on the right side. Its like a repair on these 2 items. The rest I miss the plastic protection under the fender and the water tank for the windshield washer .... Not too annoying here with 9 months of sunlight

^Thats a pin-stripe, they were aftermarket or dealer installed.

And for the vertical portion of the seat (where your back rests?) I have no clue how to fix. Can you please take pics of the rear of your QX4?

The vertical portion still don't work after hit.

All ideas and solutions are property came

The position of the seat is not so bad, slightly tilted backwards like an invitation to sleep but with the swing of death is not so easy ;)

Were you able to find any accident reports?

I only ask because it looks like you have Pathfinder tail lights, the old qx4 rear bumper, and missing pin-stripe and fender liner which could have been from a repair and respray.

Also, how much does gasoline cost in Mali?

Hello Chris.m
That's what I think about the rear bumper, I saw a 3.3 liter QX4 abandoned with the same bumper. Any explication with the rear lip on the bumper ? I am the only one to have this accessory ?

Image

The gasoline cost 1,50$ / Liter
Actually my consomation is 16,80 L / 100km only in town with clim.

I need to change the front right lower arm and 4x4parts propose a bushing replacement kit for this part. Do you have any advice for me on this piece ? It's better to change new arms (left and right) or just the kit 4x4parts the job done? Installation of this kit is easy, medium or hard ? Your opinions interest me. Thank you

The kit is probably best if you can get them pressed in cheaply. Since I dont have a press, I prefer to buy the whole control arms with bushings and install them myself. If you're going to pay someone to install them then get the bushing kit.
