Hello All,
I have a 2001 QX4. Prior to this problem, all doors would unlock with the remote. The first push of the remote unlock button would open the drivers door, the second push of the remote unlock button would unlock the passenger door, both rear doors, and the rear hatch. When the remote lock button was pushed all doors and hatch would lock. Now when I press the remote unlock button once the drivers door unlocks (good), but when I push the remote unlock button again the other doors or hatch will not unlock. I have to unlock them with the drivers door unlock button. Sometime when I unlock them all with the drivers door unlock button, they will unlock and immediately lock on there own. All doors and the hatch still lock with the remote lock button. Both remotes have had the batteries changed and I have reprogrammed the remotes to the car. Thanks in advance for your advice and suggestions.

Are these original or replacement aftermarket remotes? I bought one KeylessOption brand remote from Amazon 4mo ago for $8 despite the numerous negative reviews about programming and DOA issues. So far so good with mine. Whether original or aftermarket, remove the batteries from the remotes to see if you still sometimes experience issues when you unlock all the doors with the drivers door unlock button and immediately they lock on there own. This will rule out the remotes as the source of the problem or confirm that the remotes are no good.

Maybe try disconnecting the vehicle's battery for a half hour or so it might "reset" the bcm. I think it is worth a shot.

Thanks for the replies. They are both factory remotes with new batteries. I will remove the batteries and try your suggestion. I'll also disconnect the battery to reset the BCM. Thank you.

Your ride basically has only 3 outputs on the SEC (prehistoric ancestor of the BCM), a driver unlock, an unlock all, and a lock all. Both the door switches and the fobs utilize the same mechanism, so only the radio circuit can be causing your issue. Since the unlock works for the first press, it can't be worn out buttons on the fobs. The only thing left is a defective SEC, probably a flash memory that's degrading after 20 years.

Thank you VStar650CL . I do have two remotes and the same issue happens on both. I'm going to try the SEC as you suggest and hopefully that will solve the issue. Thank you for your knowledgeable response!
