QX4 99.5 Amp Ground Location

My QX4 is a Japanese model with the driver's side being on the right. I have my amp mounted under the driver's seat and it worked for about 6 months. Lately it has been cutting out. I've been told it's the ground. Currently, the ground it attached to the seat bolt and seat rail. I sanded it, but still have the same problem. Seems like there may be some carpet between the seat rail and the body. Any suggestions on how and/or where I should connect my ground? Thanks.

You're talking aftermarket stereo amplifier, right?

If so, there are tons of variables...
Is the turn-on lead reliable and attached firmly?
Are the power and ground cables adequately gauged for the amp and firmly connected to it?
Carpet or not, it's the bolt that does the grounding. The seat rail bolt isn't small and has a flanged head...what kind/size of terminal are you using for that? Do you have a star washer to bite into any metal?
Do you have enough ground cable to run it to a dedicated grounding point?
What is the amp powering, at what specs, and for how long?
Is the cut volume-dependent?

Pics are always useful to see how you have things mounted, what you're working with, etc.

I have my amp grounded to the bolt for the tie down latches in the cargo area. My amp was cutting in and out recently and I found that it was due to the remote wire being loose, so check on that. Some remote wire I have seen are pretty weak and can break easily.

Thank you for the advice. Turns out my amp is broken. Not much I can do but get a new one.
