Just wondering what the normal location is for a CD changer on said QX4. Mine is located under the passenger seat, but I hear it's s'posed to be in the cargo area (maybe under the panel on the side?)

Mine was also under the P seat but I once heard that they are sometimes in that rear pass. side panel.... I was always told that the CD changer was made by Clarion, but when I pulled mine out, it had the ALPINE logo on the back! It still broke anyways.

Well I was looking around at them because I assume it'll break eventually. Yeah I'm amazed it's an Alpine unit, but at least they're relatively cheap and readily available -- even Ford uses them.

I'd hate having it in the back. . a friend has an older ML320 and it's located back there, with only a tape deck up front.

Still amazed my head unit is working. . I went through two of those raging pieces of crap in my 240.

Yeah, mine was broke when I bought. I found it and the dealer looked surprised that it was there. Then joked about "upping the price a little more" and then I shot back with a dirty look "it doesn't eject. How about you fix it for free?"

Still paid too damn much for it. 2 months later Katrina hit and you couldn't give them away! Talk about bad timing...

I don't think the dealer even know mine had one. I didn't even know, and noticed it like three days later. I was taking pics, and for whatever reason happened to notice a black box under the seat. . I was pretty happy about it.

Mind if I ask how much u paid? I paid $13500 cash, out the door, for my 99 QX4 with 70k miles back in Oct. 2004 ( had $14k cash in my backpack, that was nice)

Umm, I think I paid $16K with tax & title and everything in 2005 (so like $14,600). It had 70K miles on it, so it WAS low miles. I have since then put almost another 60K on the beast.

They were giving me a hard time since I wasn't financing through them, wasn't biting the "extended warranty" (HA! Already took it once up the *** on one of those when I was 18, never again!) and wasn't giving them my honda for a trade in.

It didn't help I was getting married in a few months and working 80 hours a week. If I had to try and find one more car from the list I had chosen... I got anxious and just accepted the price. I should have walked out and let them call me the next day with another offer.

Oh well. Live and learn. Buying the wife a new car in April. Definitely not going to pay more than I want. I'm goign to get my price from Consumer Reports and that's what I'll pay or they can go pound sand.

The QX4 is a great pick. I often browse cars on craigslist and when i search the terms "leather 4x4" all I get is piece of crap GM yukon, burbans, escalade, etc and a few QX4's The toyota 4runner leather is a joke, might as well call it plastic. Anyways, you dont need no warranty for a QX4. I almost bought a sketchy QX4 from a hole in the wall dealership, they kept saying how i get a 3 year warranty on the whole car, i ended up buying a QX4 elsewhere and as I drove by, the supposed 3 year warranty dealer had gone out of business and all their signs disappeared, now it is BMW used car lot over in kearny mesa

Oh no, I love my QX. I'm always thinking of ways I'm going to mod it.

Funny thing is, I think that place you mentioned is the place I bought mine. They were sorta across the street from a place I use to work at. They actually moved to Escondido for a cheaper lease.

And yeah, the only good warranty is the initial one that comes from the manufacturer on new vehicles. All others are a waste of $$$. Better off putting the money in savings and waiting until it breaks if you're buying that crappy of a car.

Yeah I think I made a good choice. . the thing is a great value, I paid just under 10k for my 99.5 a year and two months ago, with 57k.

And I concur, don't really need a warranty. That's why I bought another Nissan product. The last two I've had, and all the ones my parents have had have been trouble free. I do have the busted strut issue, but to me it's not worth the 5k dollar warranty the d!ck at the Infiniti dealer offered me.

Well I have a dead driver's side strut.. I just need to replace 'em, but I've been lazy.My goal is to go ahead and just do both front, rear shocks, and 2" lift all at once.
