Intake Value Timing Controls - Left Bank & Right Bank. Looking at some of the different forums from both Nissan and Infiniti - there seems to be a bit of mystery around if replacement/servicing is something an average Dad can do or if its best left to a dealer.

I have got P1110 and P1135 showing up via a ODB11 (I am looking on ebay to get one) and after looking through the Nissan forums where a lot of P1150 show up which sounds like almost the same thing - I have to ask the knowledge experts, can the average Joe head up to the local parts chain store and do-it-yourself or is it time to hit the dealer?

Our 2000 QX4 has 70K miles and other than normal stuff - zero problems. If they made the model still, I would get another one.

Any thoughts are most welcome.

Cheers,

Ralph

I don't have any specific experience with the QX4, so I can't really answer your question - but here's what I would do.

Download your factory service manual at http://www.phatg20.net (get it while the gettin's good... that site is only up occasionally, but it appears to be up at the moment) - you will need to google for the software to decompress the .rar file that you will download into a .pdf

Then you can read up on the process and see if you're comfortable with what's involved. Also, my guess is that the parts you need are dealer-only items. Even if they're not, I would lean toward buying OEM parts anyway. http://www.infinitipartsusa.com is a great supplier of discount parts, and they have a shipping special this month...

Good luck and welcome to NICO!
