Got badly bitten by yokohama s.drive. Reviews said these are quiet tires but my experience is completely opposite. These tires roar when coming to a stop or taking turns. There is quite a bit of tread fluttering noise. Tires are badly feathered although alignment is perfect. Final conclusion was these tires are just not meant for Ms. The tread design is too aggressive for the width of the tire and the weight of the car.

After two years of noise I want the luxury feel back. What are the quietest tires out there for 19" stock wheels? Let's say I don't care about price, traction, performance, tread life or anything else but noise. Summer tires are definitely out of picture since they are in general noisier than all season tires.

Currently, Michelin primacy MXM4 is on the top of the list. These come OEM on M37s and no complaints out there so far. What else should I consider?

i had bridgestone potenza on my m45. but moved to michelin primacy mxm4.. its top rated for all specs. and really comfy. last 4 times longer than the bridgestones while keeping the sporty traction/performance.

Thanks. How many miles do you have on MXM4s?

Anyone with M37/56 who can rate these tires?

I also have the MXM4 and they are wonderful... Very quite, and extremely grippy:) Also the tread looks like is going to last for at least 100.000 km

If price and performance is not desired (but why would be my question - our M's are meant to be driven hard! :yesnod), then a Grand Touring tire will be the quietest. If a 19" tire is available for the Bridgestone Turanza ER33 for example, then that may be one of the quietest tires you can put on the car.

Make sure to get at least 94 or 95 load index tires.

Consider the Kumho ECSTA 4X tires. Kumho makes excellent tires for all driving conditions/types for a fraction of the cost you'd pay for "higher" end brands. Check out tirerack.com for consumer reviews of Kumho tires as well. I had two sets of Kumho tires and they've been excellent in regards to quietness, wet, dry and cornering performance. :)

Any one with experience with Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110? Quite a bit cheaper than other options I've seen - $216/each on tirerack.com.

I'm in Phoenix so really don't need to worry about an all-season tire as our winters are quite nice and I don't ever drive in snow. I'm at 29k miles on my stock Bridgestone Potenza and it looks like I'll need to replace them in the next 3-4 months. Trying to do my homework now so I don't scramble and make a poor choice in replacement tires.

I had the Hankook Ventus V12 put in about 2 month ago. They are real nice tire for the price. They are alot quieter than the Kumho ECSTA that i had before. I got them from tirerack.com. At that time Hankook was offering $80 rebate with purchase of 4 tires. I think your be happy with them for the fraction of cost from the other expensive tires.

The quietest tires will probably be the Kumho platinums. I had them on my car. They are very smooth and quiet (check the tire rack reviews). The problem is they have little handling control. They also (in my experiece with two sets) start to have tread seperation after about 20K miles.

What size is everyone running with the 19" OEM wheels? Anyone running a staggered set up, I was thinking of runnning 275/40/19 in the rears and 245 or 255 up front. I know the wheels are the same size but was wondering if I can do that.

Oh I will be dropped on Eibachs also.

I wouldn't run a 275 on 8s, there's nothing to be gained, except a pain in the a** to rotate set of tires and bulging rear sidewall. 255/40s all around are fine.

Most new tires will have little noise when new.

I like the Ventus V12

I now have Michelin on my oem 18's

and Vredestein on my 20's and so far so good.

A quick fix would be to turn the radio up alittle. :spitout:

- take a look over on tire rack and check out the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... 44YR9PSSXL I know you weren't too particularly interested in Summer / Performance tires, but these may work. I purchased a set late last summer, and while i have only put about 3K on them, they are a very nice ride and not "Church mouse quiet", but they get the job done, and well.. I'm not only saying this, but the reviews show they have a fairly good rating when referencing their noise comfort (8.9 out of 10).

On the down side, yes, they are hella pricey for 19's. But you'll get good wear out of these, and you get the added benefit of having a Max Performance tire. Either way good luck with the search.

Dropped into Discount Tire to see if they can do anything about the noisy yokohamas I bought from them 2 years back. To my surprise they agreed to apply the prorated value to any new tires I buy from them. These were only half worn so I got half the value back. Switched to brand new primacy mxm4. What a difference! These tires are very quiet on smooth pavements. A bit noisy on concrete and rough pavement but way quieter than yokohama s.drive. Absolutely no tread noise or fluttering. Good to get the luxury feel back.

Got a chance to drive in wet weather this week. No issues whatsoever.

I have Michelin Primacy MXV4's on my M35x --- quiet, for sure and last a long time.
But I can't wait to trash them. Dry they are ok, wet they ok. Sidewall stiffness is ok. They are very smooth to drive. I don't want ok tires, particularly for braking. These tires came with the car - I would always get a z or w rated tire. Except for my van, which I only put V rated tires on.

On my Q I have used W-rated Kumho ECSTA's - a summer only tire, and been very happy with all aspects, including superior wet traction as the tread get closer to the wear bars.

Palincal - where are you located? If quiet is so important, go first with summer-only tires if you are cal, az, tx, fl, etc.

These are the best tires I've come across recently. I've never seen tires that perform better in the rain, they also have unbelievable traction.
