I read through the posts, but couldn't find the answer; I'm sure its in the old archives...

Anyway, I'm new to the import scene, but I was wondering what the least obnoxious exhaust for these cars is and how much. Sound quality is important (i.e. I don't wanna sound like a fart-tube honda, if possible), but I want to keep the decibals down. I'd rather speak softly and carry a big stick. Oh, and I don't mind if it's loud when I'm really on it; mostly concerned with highway drone (daily driver, in case you didn't guess).

Thanks in advance, everyone!

Well obviously stock is the quietest, second would be one with a removable silencer like the ApexI N1.

I had a Greddy SP on my Integra and all of my friends would always comment on how nice my exhaust sounded. I has a nice low rumble at idle, and won't get loud unless your floored.;)

The GrEEdy exhaust are some of the quitest....the N1 w/ silencer is pretty quite, but loud w/out it, piping is too big to be quite....Or just get something custom, w/ smaller piping, ie. 2.5", and a nice quality muffler.

Thanks for the replies, everyone!

In my sig, I'm gonna be going with an sr20det that will eventually see 320rwhp, so I need a 3" exhaust most definitely. So my options are:1) The Apexi N1 you're recommending, is that the N1 or N1 Dual? I'm assuming the dual's quieter, right? More expensive?2) Are the GReddy exhausts more expensive typically? Since they're quieter and no power loss, I'm thinkin' they may be better quality and thus pricey...?3) If I do a custom exhaust with 3" piping, what muffler would you guys recommend? Some sort of twin cannister (DC) or one of the more familiar (to me) musclecar mufflers like a Dynomax (one of the best flowing and quietest exhaust available for my current car... and cheap too!)?

Thanks again, everyone!

N1 dual will be louder than the single.

If i was suggesting a 3" custom piping, id say get either a Rollhard muffler, or a Apexi N1 muffler depending on which you like, and which grade of construction you want to go w/.

Do keep in mind, that a turbo engine is quieter then a NA one. The reason behind it is that the turbo itself is on the exhaust port. When it spins, it also cuts the sound waves into smaller individual notes. Only time that I have heard a loud turbo motor was a honda b18c redlined with a t3/t4 turbo.

Forget about choosing an exhaust by shopping around. Play Russian 'Exhaust' Roulette and just pick one and see how it is. I personally wanna hear some reviews of Bee R or JIC exhausts. The ApexI and HKS hiper are tried and proven in the states.
