searchin told me this forum mainly likes the apex N1 and the Blitz Nur....but i wanna know which exhaust is the quietest without the silencer and makes the most power. I'm lookin for a real quiet aftermarket exhaust that has descent gains. I have the KA engine rite now...thanx

my friends got the N1 on his KA S14, and it sounds AWESOME. very low, very quiet. I havent hear the blitz on an S14, but we had one on a more than stock WRX that we once had at our dealership. quiet too. but as far as the quietest goes, i think the N1 wins. thats what i am going to run.

Comparing an N1 Dual to a Blitz Nur Spec, the Nur spec was extremely loud even at idle. Im not sure whether he was running the cat or not. Mine had a gutted cat and an N1 dual, its quiet at idle but gets loud. If you want quiet then id suggest a silencer. People say that the Greddy exhausts are quiet too.

Blitz Nur is loud, N1 is the one you want, it's quite even with no cat, 3" downpipe and w/o silencer

Can you give a description. I keep seeing people recommend this but all I ever get "HKS HIPER" but no details of sound, power, etc..

GReddy are nice and quiet. THE COMPLETE opposite of the ricey exhuaust. I just helped my friend install one on his WRX yesterday, and it sounds awesome...

Bud,

I've seen you mention the Hiper a couple of times now. Do you have one on your car? When I get an exhaust, I'll probably get the Hiper because it has the N1 styling that I like, and I also get a good discount on HKS parts.

Phax, yeah, I got my Hiper from Wayne. It sounds fantastic. You can't hear it all at idle and it's really not that loud at WOT. Honda exhausts drown me out when I'm at the track racing. And it's definitely louder than the exhaust on my Accord, and my Accord muffler isn't even a canister exhaust, it's a full muffler.

thanx for da replies guys and gals. I have the greddy mx on my g2 integra ls and that thing gets annoyin loud on the freeway at around 70mph@ around 32krpm. I know the greddy is an excellent product, but its still loud for me. I don't have the SR yet, but after i get turbo, will the Blitz or Apex N1 be significantly more quiet or just about 30% quieter? I'm willing to use the sliencers until then. Thanx

Firstly, he said he had a KA. Most 3" pipes on a KA sound deep. Some will be deep and loud. From what I see here, everyone is comparing peaches to oranges. A WRX and SR20DET is turbo'd. Turbo setups will tend to be deep and quiet because of the turbine splicing the sound waves before they enter the exhaust stream. If you want quiet and to upgrade to an SR LATER in the game, then get a 3" exhaust with a silencer. A 3" exhaust on an 2.0L+ N/A motor will be pretty loud after 2k rpm. Gut the cat etc and you will end up with a rice demon.

greddy exhuasts tend to be really quite. everyone i know around here that has gredd are pretty happy with them. As far as hks hyper goes its what i got. It gets a little loud, but its deep. Definatly doesn't sound ricey. Hks hyper is alot cheaper to ship then n1 due to n1 being 1 piece, thats like 11 feet long, and the hyper is 2 pieces. So unless you have a place local you can pick up your exhaust from getting hyper will save you alot over n1, and you will have about the same exhaust..

I have a Nur Spec R and still have the KA. I bought it because I knew I was going to swap to SR. It wasn't too loud with the silencer, it actually sounded "perfect" according to a domestic hot rodder guy. Unfortunately, I didn't tighten the silencer bolt down enough one day while my *ex* girl was *****ing at me, and it flew out on the highway. Now its louder than a fugger. So, until you get the SR installed, keep those nuts nice and tight...

PS: I love the exhaust, but it is known for being rather heavy. Mine also cracked a square chip out of the tubing where the hanger was welded on. No big deal though, we just welded it back. that's stainless for ya. Same thing with my Greddy stainless header. BTW: Project D/autoimaging is having a JIC sale, and JIC is the shiznitlebamsnipsnap! Maybe you could hook up a good exhaust for cheap. JIC is drifty stuff though, and we know that that means its probably loud.

I would strongly recommend a greddy SP or any other greddy. They have the best tone, and sound great on our nissan's. I was going to recommend http://www.jspec.com but I just visited their web site and looks like they aren't selling exhausts anymore. They had a few exhausts that they said were the "Quitest" but I can't remember which ones they had. They were really rare and I couldnt find them anywhere else but there. Oh well, good luck. Go with GREDDY <TRUST>

wussup...thanx a lot for the responses again. Actually, from what people say, i wanna get the Greddy. But from my experience w/ a greddy on my car now(92 integra LS Greddy MX) that thing is loud, but considered one of the best and quietest for that car. So thats y i'm kind of hesitant about buying one on my nissan, but i know it'll be different since it will be a different engine. I kind of want to get the Apex N1 also, but i heard shipping wuz a grip cuz of the 1 piece design. Overboost did an article on the N1 and said it wuz quiet as hell. ****!! I should jus get the N1 w/ silencer.

i got the dual N1 and it gets loud at around 2.5k-3.5k. Its two peice so it shippes better and it has a lower profile than the single N1. I think it is pretty quiet at idle but at WOT with the KA it sends sound wave concusions though your body and it gets really deep and really loud (which is pretty cool IMO)...

Get the Greddy SP, my friend has one and it sounds excellent. Nothing better than that from my view point.

Definatly not, the N1 isn't "Too quiet". Do this, email jspec at [email protected] and ask them about the exhaust section. It is not listed anymore but they must have just taken it off. I was looking at a Greddy and the 5zigen Border III. Can't remember the neme of the greddy that they said was extremely quiet. Ask them, they will know and I am sure they will still be able to order them.

Good Luck!

Sometimes they take a while to respond, i've ordered stuff from them before and it worked out great. Jspec.com really knows their stuff and they can get just about anything from Japan.
