Currently I have an NA/KA with a 3" exhaust system. The problem is that the muffler on it is a 3" inlet with dual 2.25" out and its LOUD as hell.

I know that Tanabe is putting out some mufflers that are about 92Db or so and I was wondering if anyone knows about any other companies doing the same thing?

I would like a much lower sound more like a 350Z than a Big Block engine. I need this car to drive around town in and its too loud to talk to someone sitting next to me and horrible for long distance...

Add another resonator, and make sure if you have one already that if its glasspacked it probably wore down.

i dont have a resonator yet, but if i put one on, wont that just make the sound lower or just "resonate" it? Is this an option that actually works at all? My biggest problem is at high speeds and high RPMs. I have the entire car sound deadened and its still pretty bad in the cabin and this is my daily driver, i cant do that to other people.

About the supertrapp, they have those little discs in there? dont those look pretty bad? and how in the world do they raise performance (like their website says) and make your car quieter?

its black magic... but it does, like puting in the silencer tip in your exhaust actualy gains like 3hp, I forgot what magazine it was, but its proven.

No 4 banger will sound like a V6 (or a V8 for that matter). Just because it's loud, doen't make it sound like a big engine.

LMAO!!! yeah, im sure we all know that. I just dont want that ricey "there are bees attacking my car" sound thats what i meant. Sry for the mix-up.

Alright, i will give Supertrapp a try then, will it fit on my MagnaFlow or will I have to get a Supertrapp muffler too?

Use the biggest resonator that you can. On an s13 you can fit a 26" tube in there. Get a turbo muffler. That is the end.

I'd love to know how the supertrapp works out. I think I have the same loud-asz magnaflow you're talking about and I'd love to calm it down a bit...

You need a resonator. It will reduce the noise substanitally.

do u know how loud a rotary sounds with a straight pipe, like a dragster. i put an oval muffler on it from a honda or civic , and the db's dropped to a very deep rumble at low rpms, and screamed at the top end. it works better than all of the ideas that ive seen on here. no disrespect , but ive tried all of those options and had poor results. good luck

why are some people suggesting turbo mufflers? NA mufflers are better at absorbing sound than turbo mufflers.

Definitely get a resonator. I have 2.5" mandrel bent exaust with a hi-flow cat going to a Tanabe 3" muffler. It used to sound decent at low RPMs, then when I would push it, it got kinda ricey.

I put a 2.5" resonator in it, and it quieted down a lot more-so INSIDE the cabin. Now my exhaust sounds 10x better on the outside as well.

Here's some various resonators and mufflers: http://www.sfxperformance.com/...stems

I've heard good things about the Spiralflow resonators.

ok, the only thing im going to say is even if your 16 you dont have to type like that, give it a damn REST! man, my little brother does that crap like its cool or something. If your going to do it, learn some real L337 and get on with it, but jesus, this is nuts.... stuipted and dat knoes WTF!?!? i cant handle that crap....

to answer that question a resonator needs to be welded in, but in reality there is NO reason for you to put in a 3" on a 1.75" system

go with a good 2.5" system and enjoy it man, the only reason im doing a 3" is b/c within a year im putting in a turbo and dont want to pay twice for exhaust.

I was saying turbo muffler meaning more flow than stock but still quiet. I had a summit turbo muffler on for 6 months to queit the ride. Not like for a turbo car, just turbo flow compared to stock.
