i've been searching the forum here for a little bit and cant really find anything besides the HKS silent hi power but i cant afford a $600 exhaust. I want the performance of an aftermarket exhaust but not to be to much louder than stock.

does anyone know off the top of their heads a 2.5" exhaust for a ka24e that is pretty quiet and not super expensive?

any suggestions are greatly appreciated

(please no flaming to use search button, i did and found only the HKS)

BRM or go to your local exhaust shop and have them build you one. Don't forget the resonators and don't let them weld it to your cat. Make 'em put flanges on...

^Yeah^

Also Apexi Noir. Justa what you want but probabaly expensive. I have a 2.5" exhaust that I had a shop make up. They did good work and put proper flanges on. I ahd them remove the old plugged cat(I don't need one where I live), put on a Dynomax muffler, and opted not to get the resonator. It's pretty quiet when I'm not on the loud peddle(ie: keeping the revs down). But as soon as I step on it, it becomes quite loud. In hind sight I should have had them install a resonator as it would help remove the "raspy bark".

But at the same time, after all was said and done, it ended costing almost the same as buying a premade catback exhaust from any name brand, and it isn't even stainless steel.

I got me an ebay one for like $150 and coated it with VHT aluminum color paint. It's held up well and has a silencer. It's pretty quiet with it in and loud with it out. I know everyone hate's ebay, but for the price and an $8 can of "ceramic infused" paint I got no complaints. I did have a couple nipples welded on the silencer so I could remove it more easily they tend to get stuck.

I had a shop make me an exhaust, used a dual tip Magnaflow with only one resonator. It had a nice deep tone and never really "screamed". This was also on a 2.5" pipe.

Actually, this is the muffler I used, http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shop ... in&id=8664. I had measured my exhaust opening on the bumper of my S14 and it was 4 1/8", and I had it come straight out, not with the gangster lean thing. It looks presentably stock, but a tone a little more aggressive, but equally not as attention drawing.

IMO, this is the best route to get precisely what you want. I LOVE my Circuit Sport dual tip exhaust. It's nice, quiet and subtle, but also discontinued. The only problem that I have with it is that is hangs too low. That's one problem with the aftermarket exhausts: ya never really know how low it's gonna hang and if it's gonna scrape on everything when you get low.

So aside from a few exceptions that are known to have nice tucked-up fitment (like BRM, Powered By Max and a few others), having a custom one built to tuck up close is a good idea.

My first exhaust was custom. It tucked up great, but I didn't really know what to watch out for, so they ended up doing a hack job. It was 2.5 inch piping with no resonators or silencers. Loud as all hell. The idiots welded my downpipe, cat and exhaust together so when I finally pulled the leaky bastard off, it had to all come out as one piece!

Greddy Ti-C has a very very low tone and is pretty quiet as long as you keep the cat on. Resonator hangs a little low though. It's also one of the cheaper aftermarket exhausts that I've seen.
