No. Nissan trannys kind of like some Mitsus dont like quick shifting. Short shifters can help, but again, learn to shift smoothly. Your syncros will like you better that way. And dont lean on the shifter. Trannys dont like that either.

stick or auto transmission?

I personally think short shifters are not the answer. I think they just increase your chances of a miss shift.

I'm talkingm about the time it takes for the clutch to engage. would getting a stage 2 clutch be quicker since it has mor clamp force? know what I mean..

get a clutch that has a stiffer pressure plate and remove the clutch dampener unit.

the clutch dampener is something added into the hydraulic clutch line to lessen drivetrain vibrations going back up to the clutch pedal. And its not needed.

A more high performance (stiffer pressure plate) clutch may engage a tiny fraction of a second quicker but really won't make that much of a difference in shift speed.

I know this is gonna sounds corny, but you know in Fast and the Furious where they show em' in with the clutch and out real quick? that's what I want to achieve. cause with stock you shift in and out that quick it'll just one: jerk the car and two: burn the clutch.

long story short;I want quick shifts that will be smooth as well if that's possible.

Well thats all about timing...

Practice rev matching your downshifts, and practice Heel-toe. it will really help you learn to shift properly.

When i started to learn to rev match I double clutched.

To double clutch..

On down shift you will punch the clutch, kick the shifter into neutral. (synchronized motion) then press the clutch smoothly, blip the gas pedal with your right foot in order to rev the engine with the clutch pressed, and then drop into a lower gear.

The object is to match the rpms, so when you release the clutch there is little to no fluctuation in engine rpms and you get a smooth shift.

Heel-toe is the same principle, but you are braking at the same time. It had the advantage of allowing you to brake much later than normal, as you can brake AND shift in one motion, all while keeping the car balanced.

To do this say your cruising in 3rd and your turning about 5-6k rpms (quite up there)

-Apply firm, steady, and accurate braking pressure with the ball/toe of your right foot (try all this in a parking lot first...in a lower gear maybe)

-While continuing to maintain brake pressure, clutch with your left foot and begin your shifting motion.

-While continuing to maintain brake pressure , your going to pivot your right foot so your toe is still on the brake, but your heel is over the gas.

-While continuing to maintain brake pressure with your toe/ball of right foot, blip the gas with your heel as the shifter passes through neutral. (takes timing and practice)

-Once you enter your target gear, release the clutch, release the brake and get back on the gas with smoooth throttle.

Drill those things, and all your shifting will improve greatly and people may begin to comment about the smoothness of your driving
