I've recently begun to eat through a few of the wires in my harness in the wheel well (EVEN THOUGH I TUCKED THEM) and now when ever it seems the tire is rubbing up against the harness my horn and turn signal comes on. ( my horn quit working a while ago.. guessing this is why)

my Heat stopped working today also, out of the blue.

My question. Could the frayed wires in the Harness located in the wheel well Cause my Heat to not blow hot air?it only blows cold air.

quick fix, fix the damn wires. then try your heat. wires shorting out COULD do a lot of things, along with start a fire. get on in and relocate it better.

ok, as far as shorting out things, could my AC/Heater headunit have shorted out? it switches from position to position but just blows cold air, but could a short in it cause it Not to blow heat..

ugh! i hate wiring gremlins! I hope the problem is just in the harness there...:/if not, i dont know where to begin to fix my heat :/

the hvac system isnt complicated. there is a valve in the heater core line. have someone switch it from hot to cold in the car and see if the valve is moving. there is a possibility it could have shorted it out, but i would think it would blow a fuse first. also maybe you have air in the system. and sometimes the heater core can get plugged. mine was plugged in an old toyota and i hooked up a garden hose to it backwards and flushed everything out.

you could also pull the hvac control and see if there is anything burnt. and if that looks good you can test the wires to the motor for the heat valve in your heater core line.

Definitely repair those wires and go from there. If you are still not getting heat then it may be entirely a different issue.

Wiring shorting out is definitely not good.

Report back after fixing the wires.

S14s have one main harness running through the pass, fender well.and unfortunately i wasn't able to solder them, as i was pressed for time, I ended up cutting a bit out of a support bracket on the outside of the inner fender and tucking it up as far as i could.did everything i could just short of relocating the whole harness.

i know not soldering them wasn't a good idea, but for now, it gets the job done.I will be going back in to solder the wires sometime soon, what i did should get the job done for the time being.

and please, no "You should have soldered those wires" comments, i know full and well what i did, and i don't want any s*** from it from random ppl on nico.
