Yes there is a torque value and pattern for the valvecover.

Yea I used the tightening pattern in the FSM b/c it was sitting next to me, however, I think with the valve cover that is not so neccessary. Just go in a criss-cross pattern (as opposed to just moving around the cover in a line). With something like the valve cover it's really not gonna make a difference. Just torque the bolts down so they're tight, but not so tight that you snap them in half.

I have a somewhat related valve cover question....an S14 SR in a S13 chassis. Will a front strut tower bar clear the valve cover? The only thing I'm worried about is the hump.

depends on the maker of the STB. My cusco clears my motor just fine and also clears the s14 SR in an s13 as well.

Ya but you loose all of the fun with drilling the other half of the bolt out.

Hell I lost 2 of the bolts when putting my valve cover back on last time, and have been too lazy to order new ones. Eh, safety factor of 8...
