Ok i know there are alot of bad idle problems. And im looking at buying a 240 230miles away and im 90% sure teh problem the guy described was a vacuum leak. My question is, i might not have anyway to change the line because i dont know which one it is.

Is there anything i can do to get the car home other than tow it?

temporary electrical tape? Or the sizes and lengths of lines i would need. Prob the maximum i would need for any of them so i can cut.

any help or advice is appreciated, thanks

one way you can do it is to raise the idle through the accelerator/tps cable. you can probably make it idle from 1-1.5k rpm. it'll waste a bit more gas on idle but it looks like you will be driving more on the freeway. then when you get it home you can figure out whats wrong with it.

If you can, do a smoke test on it. it should blow out of the leak. electrical tape sounds perfect, just load it on till you can find a proper way to fix it. Good luck

I would recomend towing it back. You know it has problems. what would you do if other problems arise on the way home? It would be cheaper to rent (borrow) a trailer in advance rather than pay a tow company from halfway to home.

With a tow you can get it home and spend the time you need to fix it correctly.

Otherwise a good supply of electrical tape should help get you home. See if you can find some of the wider tape. It will be easier to fis the larger size hoses.

well you want to seal off all ends that will naturally let out smoke. like you air intake ect. ether get a smoke machine or a tasty segregate and blow the smoke into a common vacuum hose(brake booster line) for a few min.s making sure thats theirs pressure. If you see any smoke what so ever in an area where it shouldn't be then this is enough to know your problem
