Quick transmission question

Sorry I'm at work and didn't want to search.I just needed to know if the s13 single cam and dual cam transmissions will interchange. I thought the bell housings might be different or something like that. Thanks guys

I called a wrecking yard for a transmission and they said they don't interchange. Why would there program say that?

FS5W71C is the transmission in 240s, 84-89 NA 300zx, SR20s and RB20s. To use an SR transmissons, just change the bellhousing.

To use the 300zx FS5W71C, swap the front and rear cases. This works vise-versa

To use the RB20 transmissson, Im not sure.

All cars that use the FS5W71C have the exact same internals.

They are trying to keep things simple. There are some small differences (like the speed sensor), but they are the same. On 95-98 transmission using on a S13 you would want to swap the speed sensor and probably plug the CAS hole at the top of the bellhousing near the engine.

But for the 89-90 vs 91-93 5spd they are the same except for the speed sensor.
