i want to pull my timing chain tensioner out to inspect it and clean any gunk off it (to make sure its working good). anything special i should know, or just pull the two bolts, pry it out, clean it up, and push it back in? i figure since the chain shouldnt move from its teeth on the cam gears and crank gear, there shouldnt be any problems, but im nervous. any help?

Just pull it out, inspect it, and remember to push the arm back in and latch it before you reinstall it.

Get a new tensioner while it's out. It's updated as well.
