quick temp sensor question

what size threads are on the stock water temp sender. the one for the gauge

I believe it's the same as the fuel-temp sensor. Try un-threading the fuel temp and see if it will thread into the coolant sender port. Assuming you don't have the coolant sender to just measure the threads with a gauge.
