ok, the previous owner put in speakers, pioneer 2 way in front and 3 way in back along with some pillar mounted tweeters up front, my question is, if i got 3 way speakers, do i need to wire each one of the idividual speakers within the unit by itself? (i mean separate wiring for the low, mid, and high, etc), and how where do i got a crossover for the tweeters? im sorry, im new to this whole thing

2 and 3 way co-axials usually don't need crossovers. Just hook the wires up and go. The tweeters are already wired with the woofers. Hope this helps.

2, 3, and 4 way speakers all have internal crossovers, all you have to do is hook up the connections on that back of the speaker, and let it do the rest of the work! Goodluck and hope this helps.

i thought that was how it worked, so thanks, it makes perfet sense, im still in need for crossovers for the tweeters to hook into the front speaker outputs or into the RCA component outputs

do you mean the stock dome tweeters? I just ran them straight off my 3 way pioneers in the doors, it didn't blow them, or distort the sound at all. I think the stock tweeters also have a factory crossover built in them. Mine sounds great, and has worked for over a year.

Hope this helps yet again, and good luck! :)

one of the previous owners installed aftermarket stereo, so i got pillar tweeters with speaker wire coming out behind the headunit, but im not sure if they have crossovers in the a-pillrs or not, but since they werent hooked up to the stock headunit i got the car with, i have no clue. if they have cross overs, do i wire them to a line converter going to the RCA plugs or the regular speaker wires?

P.S. thanks for the help, and patiance, i really appreciate it

Well, I would really have to look at it this point in time, I can't really offer any good advice without being able to see it now. Very sorry I can't help anymore.

I guess you could just try to hook them up really quick, listen to them to see if they distort or sound muffled, then if they don't, just hook them up directly with speaker wire from your door speakers.

Sorry I couldn't be any more help.... Good luck

i found that the tweeters have some sort of circuitry on the back of em, so i figured that'd be the crossover, so i wired them in with the front speakers, work just fine, i also found that the tweeters were connected to the wiring with masking tape, wtf, and that there are 4 speaker wires behind the headunit, connected in pairs, two of em are for the tweers, i dunno what the others are for, so im gonna have to find that, it may be to some part of the system i havent yet seen, but who knows, anyways, the person who wired this wasnt too good at it, masking tape on the rear speakers, tweeters, and i havent opened up the door panels yet

former 240, thanks for the help, its greatly appreciated, stereos arent my thing, i'll stick to wiring my beloved interior/exterior lighting

hey matt4pl

I just got your email, no I am pretty sure I didn't own your car before. The only 240 I've owned is mine. I was refering to my old car which was an '89 Accord Lxi 4-door (Thank god I switched). Hope I didn't confuse you too much.
