This is for you guys that actually care about sound quality in your audio systems.

If you are having trouble with plastic panels rattling here's what you use:

If it's a door panel use a dedicated sound deadener

If it's a trim panel(lets use the hatchback 240) in the hatch then you use foam. I'm talking about the foam that you can get from Joann's Fabrics and other craft places.

When you are buying it you'll want to know how much space is behind the panels you are having problems with. I'll recommend a combo of 2" and 4" thick foams. When you put the foam in place you can adhere it with spray adhesive(only takes a little bit).

When you go to reinstall the panel you put foam behind, if the foam doesn't provide any resistance you need to install a thicker foam. You need it to compress and put pressure on the panel to prevent vibrations.

I personally recommend that you use a little thicker foam on the horizontal portion of the panels where it actually attaches/clips into place. I've found that this portion gives the most severe rattle.

To do a whole car, and still have foam left to make a bed, it shouldn't even cost $50 including foam and spray adhesive.

Pretty much all fabric places have it.

It is just standard foam. Usually comes in rools of varying thickness.
