Are the hinges supposed to say R on one side and L on the other? Reason I'm asking is because my car currently has R on both sides and I can't get the stock hood to sit right. I thought there was something wrong with the hood but I installed a carbon fiber hood today and it still won't sit properly. The car has never been into an accident before. My older brother owned it for 10 years (93-03). I also tried adjusting the hood rubbers but it didn't make a difference. I took them out just to see what'd happen but still nothing.

Here's how it looks like with the stock hood:

wow thats wierd, go to a junkyard and take a set of hinges and put em on and see whats up, Id go look at my car, but its dark and i cant see anything. the only other thing i could think of is if the frame was bent somehow? but its never been in a wreck....

how long has the hood been like that? i assume your bro bought it new, so it couldnt have been there when he got it.from the pic it looks not only like its bent to the driver side, but forward to the bumper also.. perplexing

My brother bought it used in 93. He was the 2nd owner but I've never seen the hood sit like that until early 2002. That's when my brother stopped using the car as his daily driver. The car was *****ed when I bought it from him. Rust was everywhere including roof, spoilerless hatch due to everyday fog. Also a deep long scratch on the right rear fender. Not to mention the idle was bad too. It would die out on a stop if you don't push the gas pedal a little bit.

The hood as it is right now sits way too tight on the driver's side which is probably causing the passenger side to pop out. I'm not sure if you can see this but the passenger side has a lot more gap going towards the front bumper.

Anyway, I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone could check their hinges for me.

This may be common sense but I would suggest two things:1) if one says "R" it's probably for a reason2) take a good look at the hinges, if there was a bad rust problem they might just not be closing fully

oh and one more3) make sure it's mounted right :P

Yes, they are stamped with the correct side: L and R
