Ok, so after helping with a buddy's RB25 swap and doing some digging on the swaps, seems the SR is considerably more expensive than the RB25... drift tax I guess. So, to you guys that have done the swap, what transmission do you use? Its the only question I cant seem to find any reasonable answer to.

Rb25 is definitely more $$. No questions asked.
You can use the 25 or 20 transmission

Yea, my buddy got his whole swap for 1400. I havent seen an SR cheaper than 1800-2000. And if I did go SR, Id want the S15 SR, which is more. Just doesnt make sense to go with a 4 cylinder when I can get a straight 6 for less money.

How can I make sure Im getting the right transmission with the swap? My buddy suspects he got an RB20 transmission with his swap.

theres a couple pics in the RB forum faq's but the new forum layout makes that section harder to find....

the RB25 transmission is fat and huge, its basically a z32 trans. the RB20 is skinny and similar to the KA trans

thats an rb25det transmission. notice the shifter plate is angled as well. its huge and heavy.. definately not fun to hump alone its still heavy with two ppl

the SR motor may be more expensive,
but it drops right in.
wiring i assume would be easier and cheaper since it's more common than an rb25.
overall though, SR swaps are cheaper,
probably 1 pretty big reason why they are more common than RB swaps.

parts is the big thing... i mean i can make mounts for my RB...

and i hate wiring so a premade harness is about the same for SR or RB into my car..

i think the big thing is alot of myth...

alot of diff headaches associated with RB. like overheating etc

and well... everyone has sr parts in they garage
