Ok. For a chain guide replacement, the instructions posted here mentioned something about draining and removing the radiator. Now, since my guide job was done last month, I'm assuming that the radiator was drained, removed, and refilled.

So, would it be pointless to get the "Q Summerize" kit from IOS and repeat the process? The radiator treatment, sans removal.

Just looking for opinions/advice.

It depends on if it was actually drained and removed. It can be done without doing so - as was done on mine at T3. A partial drain and refill is just that, partial. It takes at least 5 or 6 drain and fill cycles to get to a 90% or so flush. I buy 6 gallons of distilled water and fill, heat up, and drain until i'm out of water... then add straight A/F for the final fill to get to approximately a 60water/40AF blend.

How long does that take? I definitely want to start doing this stuff myself. I'm tired of having to coordinate my schedule around a shop.

Just call the dude up and axe him how much fluid he got out of it and go from there. If he's confident that he got most of it let it go. If not, coolant flush / drain is easy and takes little time. Maybe an hour or so. If you're very deliberate and monkey around under the hood while you're at it then it might take more time. No sense in paying $85 bucks an hour for a tech to do that. Save the big ching for the truly heinous work.

Even if you don't get all of it renewed it's still significantly better than having old stuff in there. Get a couple of empty drywall buckets and a big funnel. You can dump the waste antifreeze back into the gallon jugs of water and coolant. Schlep it to your local HAZMAT joint and fire up the grill.

Time to refresh my Gin & Tonic.

This is the perfect time of year{temperature wise} to just buy 6 gallons distilled water and some coolant- before starting car every morning for a week just drain radiator and refill with distilled water.....only takes 5 minutes On the 7th morning drain radiator and refill with pure coolant{should be able to get 3-3.5 quarts in} then empty overflow resivour, fill with 2 quarts of pure coolant....and you are DONE you now will have 5-5.5 quarts pure coolant in system, to give you a 50/50 concentration good for both freezing temps and summer heat

Real easy to get it done once with distilled water and a flush kit. Drain and refill is just so Neanerthal unless you are only adjusting concentration.!

Good time to change to OAT coolant.

Look at the condition of the coolant and check for electrolysis. Coolant doesn't need to be changed as often as other fluids. 3 or 4 years is fine as long as it isn't gross or conducting. The pink stuff lasts even longer.

OAT?

The flush kit is the kit shown from IOS under specialty kits?
