1) I just mounted my flywheel and to torque the bolts to 105 ft punds is pretty hard. Would it be ok if I just torque them down with a impact wrench?

2) While trying to torque the fly wheel and the shafts rotating I heard a poping noise coming from the enigine. Is this just compression releasing from the spark plugs wholes are something more serious?

3) This might go with question 2 but the little arms thingyS(forgive my wording) that sit on top of the valves and springs that are attached to the rocker arm, wiggle a bit on some of the vavles( up, down, left and right). Do those compress up it the engine is first started? I cna post a picture ina coule day s but my camera is MIA.

Thanks nistech and any others that can help.

impact wrench should do it, but dont over do it.

poping noise? how sharp?

for the arms: do you have an SOHC? if so, as long as they dont click, your good

I can lift them up and down and make a clikcing noise. It just concerns me since I bought it from someone who said it was just rebuilt. All the valves look new and everything else look really good. I have a 90 Nissan 240sx KA24E. Sorry I forgot to mention that.

As for the popping noise I would like to say it sounds like a spring but it wasn't doing it until I put the flywheel on and oil pan on. The oil pan doesn't seem dented in any way. It does it about once or twice through a full crankshaft rotation. I was just thinking it was air escapping from the spark plug holes. SOunds like a farting clap. Really short.

the popping noise has got me. search for one of my posts i did a while back about how to check the lifters, i will find it and put a link up in a sec.

which way are you turning the flywheel?

also, remove the spark plugs and try turning it, see if that makes a difference
