I've got pads and disks coming for the front of my 99. I've never had the wheels off so wondering about the screws that hold the rotors on.

Are they standard phillips head screws or star head as I have seen on some vehicles. Can't find my star head sockets so i'll need to buy a new set if so.

Also, is there a special tool needed to push the pistons on the cylinders back in?

Thanks in advance.

Hey ZiprHead, use the FSM for your work. Brake chapter. http://www.nicoclub.com/service-manual? ... 999_Q45/br

Usually a rotor is held onto the hub by your wheel, so just lug nuts. The caliper will be in the way and that is held on by a pair of metric bolts. For brakes I like to use sockets, a torque wrench and a brake caliper tool kit (I got the universal 21 piece from Harbor Freight like 10 years ago and it works every time). I use a friend to bleed the system usually, but a vacuum pump works as well.

To push the caliper back in, I just use the old brake pad as a buffer, and a large pair of slip-joint plyers.
