Post

I just received a really nice tax return, and I was thinking about doing the 300zx brake conversion for the front. Now I have a few questions that I wanted to clear up before spending the money.

1st question I wanted to inquire about is the the stopping distance. . . Once installed, did you guys see a huge difference in stopping distance? And if so, can you give me an example (e.g. stock 240sx brakes stops the car in 131 ft, while 300zx brakes stops the car in 120 ft, etc).

2nd question I had is, are the 300zx brakes only installed to reduce heat dissipation (occurs into play during multiple stops)?

And let us know if you have 300zx brakes on both the front and rear, or just front etc. . .

Thanks in advance.

I've just been discussing some of these same questions with some nice NICO folks..

I have them, on the front only. Unnecessary for the rear. Hawk pads, Powerslot rotors. It sounds like you just want to know if it's worth it. It is. Upgrade the brake master cylinder as well when you do though. Larger piston, it makes a difference as well.

If your car is just daily driven, sure. That's a pretty blind statement.

LUL. . . Yeah, with the tax return I got, I can easily get some Stance Gr+ pro Coilovers. . . But I'm thinking of getting some Megan coilovers. If I buy the Megans, I will have enough for some wheels too.

Is it a considerably huge difference?.. Or a minor difference?

If you really want to shorten your stopping distance get stickier tires. If you have problems with brake fade and new pads/rotors and stuff don't help then get z32's/q45's/altima/sentre se-r brakes.

It sounds like you want them just for the sake of having them and for the performance as a added bonus. So if you have the money get the whole package front, rear, ebrake, master cylinder & stuff. If not just get what you can afford. You won't notice a major difference if your just in stop and go traffic.

Here's a more info on brake stuff for our cars. Bookmark it for future reference. Brake

Btw I have a full z32 setup front and rear, 1" MC, & working e-brake. It definitely solved my brake fade problem.

Hey AAV, did you replace your e brake cable when you did it? Mines stretched out or uncut evenly. I have that T split connection so it splits to each hub. Rumor I heard R33 e-brake cable works without cutting or anything?

If you go with Megans get the streets, not the tracks.

My entire brake setup is pulled from a 92 twin turbo. I didn't replace the cables or anything.

And 2+2 and r33 cables might be too long for s13's. Coupe or Twin turbo cables should be a good fit.
