Quick question to all of you who's driven a 240sx with a freshly installed clutch. I am in the process of changing my clutch with an OEM Luk clutch, and I was just wondering once the procedure is done, will the clutch feel stiffer than before, or softer?

While searching around, I noticed people say that once they drove around in their 240 with a new clutch, it was very soft and mushy, but once they broke the clutch in. . It got much stiffer etc.

Here's my situation, I decided to change my clutch since it was as soft as a pillow, and I couldn't even feel the friction point (even with the damper removal). So I bought the OEM Luk clutch, and for good measures, a new OEM slave cylinder.

So will my clutch be stiffer once i start the car up, or will it be as soft as before?

Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I drove my car right after I swapped in a new clutch... And everything else to convert it from auto. My pedal feels like most new cars do. I guess having fresh parts with a properly adjusted pedal really makes a difference.

I also have a braided clutch line. Those help a ton.

Yah, that's the only thing I'm missing. . . But before the damper mod, everyone said doing the mod would make the pedal stiffer, and more responsive . . But that was a ton of Bull. . . So I highly doubt the braided lines would do much. I hope i'm right. . . LOL

I just changed my slave cylinder, removed the damper box and and put on a braided line. The clutch feels better than ever. Maybe it was removing the damper box and using the braided line or my old slave cylinder just felt like crap for a year before it blew.

Sweet! So theoretically my clutch pedal should be stiffer after I drive it. . . Becasuse I read that old slave cylinders can cause the pedal to become very soft and mushy (which is what I was experiencing). Glad I already done the damper removal mod, and glad I purchased a new slave cylinder to compliment the new clutch.

My clutch feels normal most of the time, but then sometimes will feel really soft and mushy. If I turn on the A/C thats when it gets really soft...f*** 240's

I don't know how the ac has anything to do with the clutch. Is it hooked up to the vacuum system? I know the brakes can feel mushy if the vacuum system is leaking.

Those LUK clutches are pretty stiff compared to say an oem exedy. Idk why but they hold nice especially when clutch kicking. I was surprised.

OMG thank god! That's the reason I bought it. The sales person told me that the Luk clutches were better than the OEM Exedy clutches, and Beck Arnley clutches! Sweet! This makes me very very happy.

That's what i'm aiming for this time around. . . A stiffer, and more responsive clutch! Yea!

i replaced my original clutch with OEM replacement and it felt just the same as before. about a year after that my trans let go so i bought a spec stage 3 which is a 6puck, i replaced slave, master, clutch line, pivot ball and everything else. the spec feels just like oem... except the grab point is at the top(sucks). now that ive had that for a little over a year i would have bought a complete(stage 3+) clutch disk not a 6 puck. it just doesnt feel right for street driven car, almost like its worn out all the time. i havent had any problems or anything like that just want something a bit stiffer than what i have now. im thinking of going with the new SPEC D kit. :naughty:
